This screening presents two short documentary films from the international project Culture Vs war — a series of documentaries about Ukrainian artists and cultural figures who responded to the war through music, tradition, and service.
The programme features stories of Antytila, a well-known Ukrainian pop-rock band that gained international attention through their collaboration with Ed Sheeran, and Taras Kompanichenko, a musician, kobzar, and bandura player who preserves traditional Ukrainian music while serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Together, these films show how contemporary and traditional culture become forms of resistance and resilience during wartime. The screening is part of the International Film Marathon Culture Vs war, dedicated to the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The marathon is initiated by the association “Watch Ukrainian!” and coordinated in the UK by Kryla Culture CIC, with the support of Ukrainian Community of Norfolk.
